There is nothing wrong with having a desire to be safe. We have locks and security systems on our homes, cars, computers, and cell phones, all in the name of safety and security. When God calls a person to a task it normally involves some risk to the person called. The question becomes, are you willing to sacrifice some safety for God? Moses shied away from the call of God as did Jeremiah. Jonah ran from the call of God. Why? Because it takes us away from the plans we have for ourselves, which are always safe.
Proverbs 16:9 says, "In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." I challenge you to look back at your life and find ways God was behind the scenes directing your steps, even in challenging moments in your life. Now think about Jesus on the cross. Definitely not safe. This moment in Jesus' life was his deepest, darkest despair. His scariest moment.
He even cried out to God, "Why have you forsaken me?!". But, even in such a dark moment, Jesus was never closer to God's will and calling for him. God came through for Jesus, raising him from the dead and bringing Him home. God is there in the dark moments and He is for you; He will come through for you.
