Messages produced by the Heartland Church of Christ 6120 NW Prairie View Rd. in Kansas City, MO 64151
In physician Ira Byock's book called The Four Things That Matter Most, Dr. Byock identifies the basic messages that people most need to speak and hear as they face death. The four messages are: Please forgive me. I forgive you. Thank you. And, I love you. I am struck that two of the four are forgiveness. The truth is, these messages, including the two about forgiveness, need to be heard and spoken throughout one's life, not just when facing death.
Romans 14:19 says, "make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification". Ephesians 4:3 says, "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Hebrews 12:14 says, Make every effort to live in peace with all men and to be holy." Do you see what each of these have in common? Do not wait for your deathbed. Make every effort to forgive, be reconciled, and make peace today!
